The Story Behind the Name

The Western Sand Cherry, Prunus besseyi, is a highly resilient flowering shrub native to the Rocky Mountain region, where our consulting practice began. It produces a cherry-shaped fruit, which is commonly enjoyed by songbirds.

The Sand Cherry shrub is recognized for its ability to withstand a wide range of extreme conditions, including drought and freezing temperatures. The cold winters and dry summers in the Rocky Mountains are harsh, and the Sand Cherry shrub must be durable and adaptive to thrive.

Robert has over 20 years of marketing, sales and competitive strategy experience spanning the broadband, telecom, wireless, and media industries. Audley Webster


Audley has over 25 of experience as a board member, senior executive and consultant to the telecommunications, cable TV, software, and information technology industries. At Sand Cherry, Audley helps clients develop business and functional strategies, centered around the clients’ customers as key stakeholders, data and analytics driven, and considering the critical tasks for successful implementation. Previously, Audley served in strategy, business planning, and operating roles at MediaOne Group and US West. He also was a consultant with Booz Allen and Hamilton. Carolyn Rumbarger

Vice President

Carolyn has over 20 years of sales and marketing experience in the broadband industry. At Sand Cherry, Carolyn has led numerous client engagements to optimize sales channels, launch new products, develop acquisition strategies, build call centers, design eCommerce offers and content management processes, and lead merger and acquisition teams. Sam Howe

Adviser to the Board

Sam Howe is a telecom industry innovator with 30 years experience building substantial growth engines in cable and digital media. Most recently, Howe was CEO of Allconnect, a consumer marketplace based on utility customer interactions.  Prior to that, he served as Chief Marketing Officer at Time Warner Cable for six years. In addition to Time Warner Cable, Sam worked in the US and internationally for Cox Communications, TeleWest (now Liberty Global) and Turner Broadcasting Systems. He is a past Chairman of CTAM (Cable Telecommunications Association of Marketers), a Vanguard Award winner from the NCTA (National Cable Television Association) and a Cable Pioneers inductee. Sam received his BA from Bowdoin College and MBA from Kellogg School of Management.
